Dublin Kerry Match

KERRY DUBLIN MATCH

Well boys Kerry were seriously lucky to have scraped a win against Monaghan, by the end of it my heart really went out to Monaghan.

Have you seen which teams Seamus Moynihan is predicting will reach the finals on the plumgaming.com site. I think that he has picked the Kerry Dublin match just right, but has got the Cork Meath match wrong. This time I am going to beat him, and claim my prize.

Sean Igoe,

Garryowen club, London

Feile 2007

Congratulations to the Blackrock players, mentors ,parents and the numerous sponsors and supporters for the Kilkenny experience. It was very easy to be proud of Blackrock Hurling Club last week-end.

Whilst we did not win we were worthy representatives of the Club and Cork and gave four tremendous performances at the Feile Finals.

It was also worth noting the presence and support of the Chairman and Secretary of the Cork County Bord na n-Og at our games in Kilkenny.

Get well lads!

While the Liam McCarthy Cup might be important and we get caught up in the wins and losses, we should spare a thought for two Cork hurlers, Kevin Hennessy and Joe Deane. Both have been ill for a while. Just to wish both a speedy recovery and full health again.

St Michaels

Could anybody answer me this simple question ?

Do St Michaels pay the Hurling club anything for having the use of the pitches/dresing rooms etc?

Something that has bugged me for a while, lately i have noticed st michaels training at night on the field with lights, no doubt its at the expense of the hurling clubs electric bill, by right they should be in the hall and least that way they would have to pay for the faciltiies

i am friendly with a underage hurling coach, and i echo his view when he says at least next year they will have their own place down in mahon, and will be hurling only on our pitches

Jimmy Barry Murphy

Has anyone heard the story that Jimmy Barry Murphy has been ousted from his position as Barra coach by player power, namely a few senior players who wanted a more prefessional approach!

If this is true, it is very sad, Jimmy is a legend in the GAA world, and a pure gentleman, for a Barrs man he is a lovely guy

I heard it from a few people, just very disturbing if players can have this sort of impact on a club coach, and a legendry coach like JBM.

Cork Hurling.... what comes next?

Fair play to John Allen, he did a good job, lost one match in two years. Well done to the man. He did us proud. Is the Cork backroom team about to break up? It is probably time for a change anyway and some new thinking as if Kilkenny have copped on to us so have everyone else!

The only name being mentioned to replace Allen is Ger Cunningham. Good goalie but whats his coaching and managerial experience? Has he managed teams out in the Barrs? He was with the Cork under 21s,I think! There should be a place for Donal Og Cusack in the new setup, he seems to control things anyway on the field so why not off the field?

Re the All-Ireland Final, some bad mistakes on the line, far too slow in pulling players who were not performing, the first three Kilkenny points should have alerted the line to a problem. The solution was sitting on the bench all year! Were the players fully focused? If this team, who have given us some wonderful days is to continue at this level, we need further hurlers of the required standard.Any candidates? Some interesting days ahead.

Under 21/Minor/Intermediate

I think we have a terrific chance of winning the county Minor title this year. They have been well coached this year by Jamie and great to see John Browne involved. Great panel of players, the likes of Aherne, Carroll, Power, Howard are the senior players of the future,

The U-21 will find it difficult but they will learn from the experienc of last yeat, Mr. McGee is a tough task mster but he will get the best out of the lads I believe

Hopefully intermediate will beat Nemo in the play off, they have had no luck all year, Colm Flaherty and his selectors deserve to stay up as if they do they will give the county a real rattle next year as the players involved are the senior players for the future

Just a shame so many minor/U 21 hurlers also play football, looks to me it holds up the whole fixture schedule.
