Hi, Am looking for any information that I can find re my Great-Uncle who played for the Blackrock Rockies in around the 1920's.
I beieve that there used to be a pic of him and the team but up until now I havent been able to locate it.
Not sure if its totally pc but here is a link given to me which may be of some help http://www.blackrockhurling.org/history.htm
My Great Uncles name was Phil Sullivan and he played around the 1920's, we don't really know much more of this as my Grandparents who held this informaion has both passed leaving us wondering for more. As well as making my old Father very happy to have this information, it will also give my family great pleasure in shutting the old devil up..(HAHAHAHA)
Thanks for reading this and a great BIG Thank You if you can help.

Phil O'Sullivan did indeed play with Blackrock and played in a number of County Finals.
He was a member of the 1918 team that was beaten by Carrigtwohill in the County Final, and of the 1919 team that lost the County Final to the Barrs.
Their luck changed the following year and he was part of a team that beat Fairhill by 14-4 to 2-0 in the County Final . This is when the famed "Boys of Fair Hilll" Ballad was written which is not very complimentary to the Rockies.
1921, because of the war of Independence there was no Senior Hurling Championship,1922 Blackrock refused to play the Barrs in the Final and the Barrs were awarded the title. 1923 Phil O'Sullivan figured in the County Final when Blackrock were once again beaten by the Barrs.
He was a member of the championship winning teams of 1924 and 1925 the Rockies beating Redmonds and St. Finbarrs.
I hope this information is of some benefit to you.
