| #1 | Fair play to John Allen, he did a good job, lost one match in two years. Well done to the man. He did us proud. Is the Cork backroom team about to break up? It is probably time for a change anyway and some new thinking as if Kilkenny have copped on to us so have everyone else!
The only name being mentioned to replace Allen is Ger Cunningham. Good goalie but whats his coaching and managerial experience? Has he managed teams out in the Barrs? He was with the Cork under 21s,I think! There should be a place for Donal Og Cusack in the new setup, he seems to control things anyway on the field so why not off the field?
Re the All-Ireland Final, some bad mistakes on the line, far too slow in pulling players who were not performing, the first three Kilkenny points should have alerted the line to a problem. The solution was sitting on the bench all year! Were the players fully focused? If this team, who have given us some wonderful days is to continue at this level, we need further hurlers of the required standard.Any candidates? Some interesting days ahead. |

| #2 | Cork may have solved the forwards problem, why not Sully for full forward next year after his displays with Cloyne? Look if Kerry can do it why not Cork? How would you stop him if he got the ball.
Brian Corcoran might stay on another year, include him as an additional forward operating about 30 meters out and with Deano around unbeatable I'd say.
I agree John Allen did a fine job as did everyone in the Cork set up. Now with the bold Loughnane involved with Galway hurling, the crack will be mighty in 2007 if he survives the
infighting! I cant see Ger Cunningham as boss in the Cork setup, Gerald Mac denied hes interested, so did Loughnane with Galway of course! Justin wont leave Waterford. Donal Og as player manager cant see that would work either but interesting idea and hes an obvious choice in a few years. |

| #3 | Ger Blue would be a disaster as a coach, and no way should Donal Og get involved, be a real sign of the GPA taking over then.
re:the all ireland
Pat Mul should have been pulled after 15 minutes and replaced with Wayne, taken off Brian an half time and switched Brian after 10 mins with Neil Roanan, when Ronan went full forward on Lohan last year he destroyed him. They also should have tried Kieran Murphy from Erins own
Certainly I think sulli should be in the forwards next year and either Pat Mul or anothere guy full back with Wayne Sherlock back at No 2 where he belongs |

| #4 | Come on! Sully at full forward, thats a non starter! who would be the full back? Still Sully on the rampage in the Thurles sun would be some sight " scattering Tipperarymen like flies hittin a car window". Now thats a prospect to shorten the winter nights.
I think red rebel should keep a close watch on Sully in the next round of the County championship to see if he can continue to pile up the scores while playing in the forwards, then we can debate the issue based on facts rather than emotion.
Red rebel you gave no real reason why Donal Og could not be player manager of the Cork team now. He has all the attributes of a fellow who is professional in everything he does, he showed leadership qualities during the revolution in 2002 and he is a shoe in as goalkeeper of the year, hes young, hes driven and he would maintain the momentum. The alternative is listening to Loughnane and Babs next year!!!!! |

| #5 | Let's hope whoever takes over will revert to traditional Cork hurling - ye've practically ruined the game. Thank god for The Cats victory in the final.
Sully for full forward? - don't be fooling yerselves - the pebble hasn't got the finness required to play in the forwards (not to mention the marbles).
And Donal Og as part of the mgmt team - what a joke. HOTD I thought you knew something about hurling.
Anyway all this talk about Loughnane is providing great cover for the Premier - we're waiting in the long grass.
Oh and the word on the terrace is Redser is back in the gym and back on Babs' Xmas card list.
Roll on 2007. |
